Finding time to exercise can be a challenge, but it’s not about having time, it’s about making time. Whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or well on your way to a living a healthier lifestyle, here are 5 fun and effective ways to fit exercise into your life.
If it’s important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.
1. EXERCISE OUTDOORS
Rather than going to the gym every day, switch things up by taking your workout routine outdoors! I’m lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful states in the U.S. which is why I’m always trying to find creative ways to exercise outside. Whether it’s a run around a local park or a hiking with a friend, being in nature can make things much more enjoyable.
2. MAKE A WEEKLY PLAN
Every Sunday I take 20 minutes to make a plan for the week. I write down everything. From the meals I’ll be eating and when, to the exercises I’ll be doing each day. For me, seeing everything on paper gives me a clear vision of what to expect going into the week and 90% of time time, I end up sticking to it.
3. CHOOSE AN EXERCISE THAT YOU ENJOY
When I first started going to the gym I thought running was the only way I could lose the weight. I ran every single day for 2 months straight and by the end of it, I had achieved weight loss but despised running. I’ve realized that there are endless ways to get into shape which is why I switch things up regularly now. I’ll go on a bike ride one day and do a Tone It Up YouTube workout the next. Whatever it is, I always make sure to do something that gets me excited and motivated.
4. KEEP YOUR PLAYLIST UPDATED
Music is probably my biggest motivator. I subscribe to Spotify Premium so I am constantly discovering new music and playlists. If you want to stay up-to-date on what I’m listening to, you can find all of my playlists here.
5. COMPETE WITH YOURSELF
Find motivation in other’s success, but never compare your journey with theirs. You are your only competition and it’s always a much more enjoyable journey when you achieve your fitness goals on your own terms.
I know how intimidating it can be to start, especially if you’re like me trying to balance a career, social life and maybe even a side hustle. But this blog is all about finding a balance between it all and ultimately finding a way to live your best life. I truly hope my suggestions above helps motivate you to make the first step towards living a healthier lifestyle.
