Happy New Year!! It’s hard to believe it’s already 2018. Although I’m not a fan of how fast this past year went, 2017 was full of great memories, moments and accompanied by a LOT of learning experiences. Over the last few years wellness has become a growing passion for me. I’ve realized how important it is to take care of yourself so naturally my new years resolutions center around all things wellness. As I reflect, I am truly grateful for the past 12 months and even more excited to build a better foundation in the year ahead. Here are the 7 wellness resolutions I’ll be living by in 2018.
1. NOURISH YOUR BODY FROM THE INSIDE OUT
Make a conscious effort to incorporate more whole foods into your diet. Begin viewing food as fuel and connect what you eat to the amazing benefits you’ll reap if you make the shift, some of which include: brighter skin, increased natural energy, and a clearer mindset. Ann Wigmore said it best..
“The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”
2. TAKE A FEW MINDFUL MINUTES FOR YOURSELF EVERYDAY
Wake up and make a point to set intentions for the day. Whether it’s being more present, becoming a better listener, or taking time to focus on moving toward your goals, reflecting daily will slowly shift your perspective and propel you into living with purpose.
3. WORKOUT IN WAYS THAT YOU LOVE
I always thought I needed to run for 2 hours a day to get the results I wanted, but as I got older I realized that fitness shouldn’t feel like a chore. In 2018 I encourage you to try a new class, go on more hikes, or take up a new hobby that keeps you active. 4. DRINK MORE WATER

5. SPEND MORE TIME OUTDOORS
Have you ever heard of “earthing?” It’s a wellness trend that surfaced last year and I am starting to think they’re on to something. If you haven’t, let me fill you in. It’s all about finding a natural connection with the earth through skin to ground contact – ex: walking on the beach, grass or dirt. There have been many benefits linked to this practice including a better night’s sleep, a noticeable decrease in stress, and a reduction in inflammation. Regardless of if you believe in this approach or not, there are always positives to opting outdoors and it’s definitely something I’ll be doing more of this year.
6. MAKE SLEEP A PRIORITY
This one is sooo hard for me because sometimes I feel like I can’t shut my brain off, however, the way I feel after a solid 8 hours is life-changing. I have more energy and find myself to be way more focused throughout the day. This year make the effort not only to commit to getting a full-night’s rest, but to power down an hour or two before hand. So instead of scrolling through Instagram, grab a good book instead.
7. GET GRATEFUL
I think we’ve all been guilty of living on auto-pilot at least at some point in our lives. Doing this really magnifies the small stuff which is why I’m making a conscious effort to get grateful this year. When you shift and focus on all of the wonderful things you already have in your life, you begin to make space for more positivity. If you’re looking to take this one on, think of five things every morning when you wake up. I promise you’ll feel a shift in the tone of your day.
